Working Principle of Desiccant Air Dryer
The adsorption drying principle utilizes the desiccant material's ability to adsorb water vapor from compressed air. Pre-dryer filters protect the system, while post-dryer filters eliminate desiccant dust. The drying process consists of three distinct phases:
Drying Phase
Wet air from the compressor passes through inlet filters (1) which remove oil. The air then enters tower A where the desiccant adsorbs water vapor molecules. After a fixed or variable time period, the inlet valve (2) diverts air flow from tower A to tower B, which becomes the operational tower.
Regeneration Phase
During tower A's drying phase, some dry air is diverted to the top of tower B where it extracts trapped vapor from the desiccant material. Tower B remains open to the atmosphere, allowing purge air to expand. Outlet silencers (3) ensure quiet operation.
Pressurization Phase
Once regeneration completes and tower B is pressurized, the inlet valve (2) changes the air flow configuration again.
Technical Notes
On DB05-6 models, the outlet filter is built inside the desiccant cartridge. Recommended but not included on DB 05-64 models.

Product Description
Micro heat regenerative adsorption pressure desiccant dryers utilize the same no-heat regeneration principle, with the key difference being the addition of a heating device that allows low-pressure dry air to re-enter the regeneration tower after desiccant dehumidification. This enhanced structure incorporates heating during regeneration, along with receiving and cold blowing processes. The slightly hot regenerated adsorption dryer offers minimal energy waste at only 6%, features longer switching cycles for reduced engine wear, and provides improved equipment reliability. This results in superior final product gas dryness compared to heatless models.
